Super Bowl Prediction

As a Browns fan this is tough to take seeing our arch rival make it to the Super Bowl for the second time in four years. The Steelers play exactly how I want the Browns to play. They play with an incredibly physical defense, solid run game, and a quarterback that can get out of the pocket and make occasional big plays. And Mike Tomlin is one of my favorite coaches in pro sports. I would love to play for him. Basically, you can say I hate the Steelers but am very jealous of their success.

A couple quick predictions....
1. Arizona will put up more total yards than Pittsburgh.
2. Pittsburgh will have 4+ sacks.
3. Pittsburgh will score a defensive touchdown.

Prop Bets I like
1. Tails on the coin toss.
2. Edgerrin James (+39.5 yards rushing) vs. Willie Parker
3. Larry Fitzgerald (-30.5 yards receiving) vs. Hines Ward

Who will win?
Arizona will move the ball some between the 20s but Pittsburgh defense will stiffen up and make all the big plays. Roethlisberger will get outside the tackles and hit a couple big plays in the passing game taking advantage of overaggressiveness of the Cardinals safeties. Plus, the Steelers fans will make this seem like a home game just like Detroit.

PS Matt Millen picked the Cardinals, obviously I need to go the other way.

Pittsburgh 31
Arizona 17

I have come up with some other prop bets that I haven't found on any gambling websites and have entered my own betting lines. I'm currently taking all bets.

* Players arrested before the game. (o/u 1.5)
* Players arrested during the game. (o/u 2)
* No one brings a ball. Game cancelled. (+190)
* Larry Fitzgerald's hair gets caught in a giant sideline fan. (+125)
* Larry Fitzgerald catches a TD dragging a fan. (+500)
* A fan catches a TD dragging Larry Fitzgerald dragging a fan. (+1500)
* Air Bud rushing yards. (o/u 20)
* Air Bud dies in the first half. (+125) In the second half. (pick 'em)
* Whoopie Goldberg's ticket number is called on the PA system. She is asked to come onto the field, much like Eddie, where she is promptly stoned to death, much like The Lottery. (-125)
* Combining two great halftime traditions, ESPN airs the "Puppies in Lingerie" bowl. (+250)
* Total ref farts. (o/u 12)*
* Total onfield farts. (o/u 180)*
* Arizona starts real cardinals in tiny, adorable football jerseys. And they win! (+150) And they lose. (-10,000)
* Kurt Warner thanks Satan for the win. (+290)
* Satan thanks Kurt Warner for the lovely card he sent last Christmas. (+350)
* A good game. (+550)

* Denotes "Honor System"

Good prediction Dan.. I personally had money on the Cardinals but had a hard time betting against the Steelers. Perhaps most importantly your call about the over-aggressive safeties was dead on. Aaron Francisco blew the game when it was on the line not once, not twice, but three times. Pittsburgh did not capitalize the second time he blew the game but it ended up not mattering because the same thing happened a few plays later.

First, he over-pursued to get burnt and put the Steelers in the red zone with 45 seconds left. Then he allowed Holmes to nearly catch a touchdown pass in the back corner of the end zone. Then, he allowed Holmes to successful catch a touchdown pass in the back corner of the end zone. It wasn't just him though, the entire secondary pretty much laid an egg when the game was on the line. They must have known that I was about to win some money.

Question of the day: Why, with 15 seconds left in the first half and the ball within the 5 yard line, do you attempt to throw a quick slant on the Steelers' 4-deep linebackers core?

Oh yea, and 4 downs to burn (spiking is a possibility)

Side Note: Bengals are going to win the Superbowl 2010! You heard it here first!

Ya Chadwick, it was a terrible read on the play by Warner who thought Harrison would automatically be coming on a blitz. I mean I would of thrown several lobs to Fitz, but hindsight is 20/20.

Hopefully some people took heed to my prop bets pertaining to the actual game and made some money.

Line I love for the NBA. Cavs-Spurs to meet in the NBA Finals. Pays 17-1

I was wrong about Francisco blowing it 3 times, I had forgotten that the second time where the ball slipped through Holmes' hands was to the left side. That one was Antrelle Rolle's fault.
