Holmes' catch great, not amazing

I just read Gregg Doyel's column, who is an idiot by the way, who said Santonio Holmes' game-winning catch was the best EVER. It's not even the best in Steelers franchise history. I'm sorry it was a great catch, but it's one that should be made by an NFL receiver. Take a look at players like Marvin Harrison and Amani Toomer, who have made names for themselves making catches tip-toeing the sideline. It was a better throw than catch if anything. Being part of the media, I understand how things get blown out of proportion, but this is getting out of control. Let me know what you all think as the best catch or your list of best catches ever.

My list includes: The Helmet Catch, Immaculate Reception, Lynn Swann's diving catch then 'The Catch.'

Yea Ben its kind of funny how that works out.

My favorite Football catches are the ones that are made in the most ridiculous manner possible. Like the highschool kid who has the ball go all over the place between his legs. I have always been part of the school that if you can touch you can, and should catch it so I get a tad annoyed with all these receptions getting blown up every week.

Marvin Harrison and Amani Toomer. One of those is very different from the other and not in a good way.

I don't know about best ever, but you need stop hating, Carats. It was a pretty sick catch. The fact that you throw Amani Toomer (who, oh, I don't know, plays for your favorite team) is laughable. If you weren't the most ridiculous person in the world already, I would just call you an idiot for that comparison.

You mentioned in your previous post that it was a better throw than catch if anything. No arguing it was a perfect throw. But since when does one alaws go without the other? It was an unbelievable throw and a clutch catch in the final seconds of the biggest sporting event in the world. It's not one that "should be made by an NFL receiver." Throw that ball to 100 pro receivers and only 10-15 of them make that catch AND get their feet in bounds like that in triple coverage.

The biggest point is that you need to realize it was in the final seconds of the SUPER BOWL. In reality, the Immaculat reception wasn't really a great catch. It was the fact that the pass deflected off somebody and that somebody still came up with it in a game with such huge implications. And for somebody who worships "the Catch," a grab made by an average receiver at best, you would think you would understand the situation a little better.

Then again you're a Giants fan. And a Buckeye hater. Yes, I'm a Buckeye fan, but I HATE, HATE, HATE the Steelers. If you're going to try have an argument, you need to have a sensible, unbiased debate. Lose your bias bud.

With love,
Barney

It was a good catch. It really was. But it really is a catch you not necessarily should make, but should be capable of making as a NFL receiver. People also forget that it was his second chance in a few plays to make that play. He let the first one, an easier ball to catch, slip right through his hands. Not to mention he caused his team to have to burn a timeout because his dumb ass was running around with the ball celebrating when Roethlesberger was trying to spike the ball and stop the clock. Then, he should have been flagged for using the ball as a prop during his touch down celebration. That is a 15 yard penalty. Tack that onto the 15 yard penalty that the Steelers defender received for excessive celebration after causing a fumble that really wasn't a fumble. Then, the officials in the booth get their head out of their ass and review the play and realize that it was not a fumble, but a deflected pass. That puts the Cardinals easily within the 30 yard line. Can you say Fitzgerald?

Too bad that such a "phenomenal" Super Bowl had to be so tainted by stupid shit.

That was me, by the way.

As far as im concerned the superbowl still isnt finshed. It was a great catch there is no doubt about that but if the ball touches your hands it better be caught especially in the superbowl by your best reciever on the team(yeah holmes is the best reciever on the steelers, no question about it.) As much as I hate to admit it Big Ben's throw was much more spectacular than the catch itself. I mean he threw a dime to holmes and if he doesnt make that catch he shouldnt play reciever anymore bc thats his job to make that catch, thats why he gets paid those millions.
But back to the actual super bowl itself. The cardinals should still have 5 seconds with the ball around the 35 yd line with one chance to win it and i think i would take my chances with fitzgerald and boldin on those scrub corners the steelers have. Sorry but being a cowboys fan and all, its tough to deal with the steelers having 6 rings and there 6th coming off such a controversial ending, its just not right. Sorry for going there.
